We’re seeking a detail-oriented, people-focused team player to be the friendly face and first point of contact for visitors at our office. As the receptionist, you’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming environment while handling a variety of tasks, including:
- Greeting visitors with professionalism and a warm demeanour
- Organizing inbound and outbound mail
- Supporting administrative and clerical needs
- Helping the team stay organized and efficient
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Applicants must have filed a Canadian tax return for the 2023 tax year. This is a mandatory requirement to qualify for a Representative ID (Rep ID) with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Three professional references
- Resides in the North Vancouver
Responsibilities Can vary, but not limited to:
- Answering phone and front desk reception duties
- Greeting Clients and responding to basic questions
- Requesting/Providing information/documentation
- Setting up appointments
- Following up on delivery of tax return packages and e-filing of tax returns
- Compiling tax return packages
- Overseeing the mailing/courier/pick up of tax return packages
- Correspondence with CRA to deal with various tax inquiries, requests and other matters
- Making coffee and keeping the boardroom and kitchen clean

Skills & Qualifications
- Fluent in English
- A secondary school diploma, along with one of the following: Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
- 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience in a Canadian public practice accounting firm
- QBO certification

Job Description & Duties:
- Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems;
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements;
- Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills.
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents;
- Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services;
- Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.

Skills & Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation is a prerequisite.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in public practice accounting, covering accounting, tax, and assurance.
- Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee diverse client projects.
- Outstanding leadership and team management capabilities, fostering a motivated and high-performing team.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication abilities, capable of presenting intricate financial data to clients and our team.
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software such as TaxPrep, Caseware, QuickBooks, Excel, etc.

Responsibilities
- Client Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong relationships and delivering exceptional client service.
- Understand clients’ business objectives, industry trends, and challenges to provide proactive financial advice and solutions.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of client engagements, including financial reporting, tax planning, and compliance.
- Team Leadership:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to a team of accountants and associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables to meet client deadlines.
- Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support professional development initiatives for team members.
- Reporting, Compliance and Regulation:
- Review and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare and present financial statements and other financial reports, highlighting key findings and insights to clients and other stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with the latest accounting regulations, industry standards, and changes in tax laws to ensure compliance.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, including income tax returns, sales tax, and other tax returns.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes, enhance operational efficiency, and leverage technology solutions.
- Implement best practices and standardize procedures to optimize workflow and ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.
